Here we are
!!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!
, enjoy.
Disclaimer: my photos aren’t great and I only really want to capture the weird stuff you don’t normally see. If you want a nice profile shot of an R32 Skyline, go to GOOGLE!
Is that an SR20 in this Datto Stanza?
The paint on this was insane. There was a silver one elsewhere, this made it look like shit. I mean it’s just GREY..but it’s SO NOT
Too damn cool
So. The Z31's VG30E engine...but Brougham? Really? On a Nissan!?
Oooooh VIP
These are so, so rare over here. There were 3 at this show. The owners of this one were very nice, they own two and they drive them weekly. Yes, next to it is a GTI-R, a unicorn in its own way
MEDALIST
Nissan Laurel’s logo looking suspiciously similar to Lexus. Probably a good thing Lexus didn’t hit Japan ‘til 2006
Two Hakos at the show! Insane! Beautiful cars IMO
Too cool. No longer a “Royal Saloon”. First one to say “Crownamino” gets a slap. It’s a bloody Crown Ute.
Easily best car of the show, though I’ve seen it a few times now. Meant to chat to the owner since i’ve seen him around Oppo, but he was a busy man
The first and the last Cosmo next to each other, incredible
Don’t know what Daikoku Heavy means but it appears to be the latest meme. Was on both of these cars if you look closely enough
Seen outside, crazy rare. That Z4 was in last year’s shots too, wonder if it’s always there
Stopped by a local exotic dealer on the way home for a treat. In this shot there’s both a CGT and a McMerc SLR. Both only ever in LHD, both never going to be legal for our roads. Both virtually impossible to see in Australia.
I went to Stuttgart recently to the Porsche and Merc museums. I saw a CGT, no SLR. I thought it would be the only one I would ever see. A few short months later, here we are, 15 minutes from home.
The place had a Citroen DS, a pair of Diablos and a F12. All of these are common as anything compared to these bad boys.

I didn’t realize LHD cars were not road legal in Australia - it seems a bit harsh.

Dutton Garage!! Last time I looked at their inventory they also had a Ferrari Daytona, an F40, a Bugatti EB110, and a SL65 Black. Are they really as welcoming to casual gawkers as their social media accounts suggest? Because huge respect to them if they actually run their business like that.
Both only ever in LHD, both never going to be legal for our roads.
Don’t give up hope just yet! Our country could show a rare moment of insight and have changes to the import laws approved in a year or so — which s h o u l d provide a LHD exemption under a rarity clause.
Alternatively, just own any car you want for at least a year overseas and get it freely registered in the Northern Territory :]
I’m jealous of you Victorians and all your cool car shows. We get next to nothing.

I did spy the EB110 there once and I was flabbergasted. I believe they currently have an F40, if their FB is to be believed. I also saw a LaFerrari there recently.
I have no idea. I guess it’s all good publicity. I haven’t been inside.
Maybe maybe. Even so there will never be many here, and they won’t be doing huge kays.
I don’t think we get that much ;) But Classic Japan is the highlight of my year, every year. I think it’s the only show I’ve been to this year :(

There are plenty of ways in which we’re more lenient than the US though ;) It is a bit harsh. There’s some sort of exemption for old cars, no shortage of Mustangs roaming around in LHD. But anything new has to be converted to RHD to be driven on the roads. There are some Escalades here at huge expensve. I feel bad for the guys who imported and converted newer Mustangs - they would’ve paid a tonne, but lost a lot of value now that new Mustangs are available here.

Who is the wheel vendor next to the AZ-1? I see some wheels in there I’d like to inquire about.

Very nice pictures, I love the Cosmos, and that burgundy Mark II hardtop (I think) is quite neat - the hardtop never made it to North America, and it won’t be on anyone’s “To Import” list.
I presume that the other hakosuka at the show was the Japanese Nostalgic Car Project Hakosuka .
Brougham trim levels were mostly seen on Nissans from the late 70s to late 80s on the boxy Cedrics and Glorias, around the same era as the woodgrain Cedric and Gloria wagons.
It’s a shame I’ll probably not see such variety here (Toronto area, Canada) - the Japanese car of choice is a R33 or R34 Skyline (15-year import rules).

Do you mean the Nissan Laurel? All those cars back then look the same.
You might be surprised. There are some Mark IIs over here. And some Laurels apparently. There’s a bit of a following for the big old sedans as drift machines.
I think you’d be right about that, though I had no idea at the time.
There were a few cool wagons there I didn’t share here. Might have been an old as Crown wagon or two. And I spotted a newer Crown wagon outside.
I think you’ll get there one day :) Once the Skylines get too common and all the kids get over them, there’s a certain group of JDM enthusiasts who will bring some of them over. These are cars you’d never see on the road here, but Classic Japan brings out the best!

The two-door hardtop to the right in the above picture seemed like a mid-70s Mark II/Cressida hardtop.
It does seem like every straight-6 midsize platform is used for drifting, and occasionally even a Crown or Cedric.

Ohhh that one. I might have a photo that I didn’t share. But I think you’re right.
Yeah that’s it. I know a guy who’s pretty into his Crowns/Chasers/anything with a 2J/anything with any J

God damn that’s a long time.
IIRC I had a family function last year which I skipped for Classic Japan ;) No farm sale, I think it was a nephew’s 2nd birthday. But still!
